Anne Arundel Opens Security Grants for Faith-Based Nonprofits

Anne Arundel security grants opened October 9th for faith-based nonprofit organizations seeking help with protective measures at their facilities. The county’s new pilot program has $150,000 available, with applications due November 6th at 11:59 p.m.
The program guidelines specify a maximum award of $10,000 and limit funding to one award per organization and its facilities. They also draw an important boundary: for-profit businesses and secular nonprofits are not eligible. Organizations should use those detailed guidelines, rather than the broader wording of the launch announcement, to assess whether they qualify.
The county announced the program as part of its fiscal 2027 budget following County Council approval in June. Its stated purpose is to help institutions facing hate crimes, antisemitism and targeted threats meet security costs that can compete with their other community-serving work.
According to the launch announcement, assistance can support physical security infrastructure, equipment improvements and professional guard services. The Office of Emergency Management is managing the rollout and offering safety-related technical assistance to applicants. Funding is intended to offset qualifying costs; it is not an assurance that every application will receive the maximum amount.
Applicants must meet the program’s nonprofit and 501(c)(3) requirements and demonstrate the relevant threat or security risk. The county also lists Maryland registration and good-standing requirements. Review the full eligibility section and application materials before preparing a proposal.
Camera projects carry an additional condition worth reviewing early. The guidelines require approved camera applicants to join Connect Anne Arundel, purchase and register a fususCORE device, authorize video-feed sharing through an agreement and pay an annual subscription fee. Those obligations should be considered alongside the proposed equipment cost.
The county’s program page provides the application link, project examples and compliance information. Organizations can contact Emergency Management at 410-222-0600 or oem@aacounty.org for program questions. Keep the deadline in view while checking documentation and the full project requirements.
