Angel Reese Reaches 500 Rebounds in a Historic WNBA Season

Angel Reese put a new number into the WNBA record book Saturday: 500 rebounds in one season. The Atlanta Dream confirmed the milestone after their 106–81 victory over the Chicago Sky on September 19, a win that paired individual history with a strong finish to Atlanta’s home schedule.
Reese finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks at State Farm Arena. Her 31st double-double of the season gave Atlanta production at both ends as the team moved to 28–14. The milestone was part of a decisive team performance: the Dream scored 32 points in the third quarter and entered the fourth ahead 83–66.
Isobel Borlase added a career-high 18 points, Allisha Gray scored 17, and Rhyne Howard contributed 14. Jordin Canada paired 11 points with 10 assists. Atlanta’s next assignment is a pair of road games against the New York Liberty on Monday and Wednesday to close the regular season.
For Baltimore basketball fans, Reese’s rise carries a familiar connection. Maryland’s announcement of her signing identified her as a Baltimore native and Saint Frances Academy standout. She was the No. 2 overall recruit in that announcement, giving local supporters an early view of a player whose rebounding would become a defining professional skill.
The WNBA’s career biography places Saturday’s achievement in a longer pattern. Reese collected 446 rebounds as a rookie in 2024 and averaged 13.1 per game. She followed that with a 12.6 average in 2025. Those season averages help distinguish sustained rebounding production from a milestone driven only by a single standout night.
Total rebounds and rebounds per game measure different things: one captures a season’s accumulated work, while the other reflects production per appearance. This latest first belongs to the total category. For Reese and Atlanta, the next test is turning that possession-winning work into results as the regular season gives way to the playoffs.
