Anderson .Paak and Cordae Bring Quiet Storm to Justin Credible’s Freestyle Series
Anderson .Paak and Cordae are giving listeners another way into their partnership. Power 106 released their appearance on Justin Credible’s Freestyle Series on October 27, with the pair taking on Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm.” The performance arrives just days after their collaborative album, Heavy Is the Crown, landed on October 23.
The fresh clip is the news here: a shared microphone session built around an established hip-hop record, rather than another announcement of the album. Power 106’s official post identifies both artists and the instrumental, giving fans a direct place to watch the performance and make their own call on the pairing.
For listeners who know .Paak primarily through his singing and drumming, a freestyle provides a different frame. The setting puts rap delivery at the center of the conversation. Cordae’s presence makes it a two-artist showcase, with the appeal coming from hearing their individual approaches within the same session.
Heavy Is the Crown is their first joint album, released through APESHIT, Mass Appeal and EMPIRE, according to the album announcement. That makes this appearance part of an ongoing introduction to the duo as collaborators. It also gives anyone who missed release day a focused starting point before spending time with the complete project.
There is a useful distinction between an album and a freestyle: one presents a finished collection, while the other asks listeners to concentrate on the performance in front of them. This session offers that second entry point without requiring a track-by-track guide or familiarity with every earlier release.
Watch the official performance above, then return to Heavy Is the Crown to hear how the partnership works across a full album. For PowerPage’s Power Mic Check, the invitation is straightforward: listen to both voices, compare their choices, and decide which moments deserve another play.
