Amaya Santos is giving R&B listeners a useful introduction to the thinking behind her music. In an October 1st TIDAL interview, the New York alternative R&B vocalist discusses creative identity, self-worth and the pressure to measure a life against someone else’s schedule.

Santos connects “CLOCKWORK” to expectations surrounding careers, relationships and success at particular ages. Her response is to move at her own pace. She identifies Mariah Carey and Lauryn Hill as lasting influences, while pointing to D’Angelo and Amy Winehouse in relation to her recent project.

Her process begins with looking inward, then building a musical foundation around bass and drums. The interview places those choices alongside SILVER, her debut EP, which she says arrived September 25th. That makes the new development an artist conversation, rather than a claim that “CLOCKWORK” itself was released today.

The official “CLOCKWORK” recording supplies a separate set of concrete release details. Distributed to YouTube by SEAzn Sounds, it lists an August 13th release date and credits Alex Kasvikis as producer. The recording runs approximately two minutes and 51 seconds, giving new listeners a concise way into Santos’s work.

This is the kind of artist introduction that benefits from keeping the conversation and the recording together. The interview explains what Santos intends to communicate; the player lets listeners decide for themselves how that intention lands. A short biography cannot substitute for that encounter with the actual music.

For an R&B audience used to crowded release calendars, the invitation is straightforward: take one song on its own terms. Consider the words, the vocal choices and the relationship between the performance and its accompaniment before reaching for comparisons with more familiar names. Discovery works best when an emerging artist gets room to establish a voice.

Use the player to listen, then visit the full interview for Santos’s account of her creative process. “CLOCKWORK” offers the starting point; the larger conversation is about finding a pace that belongs to you.
