50 Cent Joins the Payday Television Adaptation as Executive Producer

50 Cent is adding another crime-centered screen project to G-Unit Film & Television’s expanding production slate.

Starbreeze Entertainment announced Monday that Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and G-Unit will executive produce an adaptation of the company’s Payday video-game franchise with VICE Studios. The project is intended for global audiences and builds on a screen-development partnership Starbreeze and VICE announced earlier this year.

The fit is easy to understand. Payday follows masked crews carrying out high-risk heists inside stories involving betrayal, conspiracy and corruption. Starbreeze says the franchise has engaged more than 50 million players since 2011 and generated more than $400 million in lifetime gross revenue.

G-Unit brings a different kind of asset: an established record of translating street-level crime stories into durable television brands. The company’s credits include Power and its spinoffs, BMF and multiple documentary projects. It is also working on additional Power entries and the internationally produced boxing drama Fightland.

The new partnership does not mean a series is ready to premiere. The official announcement does not name a writer, cast, network, streaming platform, production start or release date. Those missing pieces matter because they separate an executive-producing agreement from a fully packaged show.

What Monday’s deal does provide is direction. Starbreeze wants to expand Payday beyond games, VICE Studios has experience with crime-driven programming, and G-Unit has spent two decades building recognizable screen properties. The next test will be whether that combination produces a specific creative team and buyer—not simply another adaptation announcement that remains in development.
